Turkey wins 115 medals on day 4 of Islamic games

Turkish athletes rack up 43 gold, 40 silver, and 32 bronze medals in Baku, Azerbaijan BAKU, Azerbaijan  Turkey continued to lead the Islamic Solidarity Games in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku Tuesday by winning 115 medals on the fourth day of the international tournament. Turkish athletes won 43 gold medals, 40 silvers, and 32 bronzes in taekwondo, swimming, shooting, athletics/para-athletics, and weight lifting on Tuesday. On Monday, the Turkish participants bagged 35 gold, 31 silver and 26 bronze medals. Turkey topped the list, while host country Azerbaijan ranked second with 41 gold, 24 silver and 16 bronze medals after the fourth day of the competition, which will end on May 22. The Islamic Solidarity Games was first held in Saudi Arabia in 2005 with 6,000 athletes from 55 nations competing in 15 different sports categories. Colombian president inaugurates rural school built by Turkish aid agency TIKA, thanking Turkey's president and its people BRICENO, Colombia  A school in rural Colombia built by Turkey’s aid agency had its opening ceremony Tuesday. The school in the Orejon area of Antioquia, in the country’s northwest, the first region to see the benefits of last year’s government peace deal with guerrillas, was built by Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA). Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos conveyed his special thanks for the support Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has shown development in his country. “We thank our friend Erdogan for sending assistance to this school,” he said. Rixos Hotels Group Executive Committee head Fettah Tamince has called on Turkey’s tourism sector to take on the work of renewing the country’s image abroad in the aftermath of the July 15 failed coup attempt.  Stating planning work to renew Turkey’s image by targeting foreign media outlets had already begun, Tamince continued: “I am calling on all tourism investors. Turkey has gone through a very important incident. Our government is conducting serious work, especially on security matters. We should be handling the economic and international image dimensions. Uğrak Women's Beach, the Municipality of Antalya's new beach that is exclusive to women, is being prepared for the season THE  works related to the infrastructure of the beach, which was founded in November, 2016 and costed approximately 1 million Turkish liras to build, is now complete.
